Metastasis

Metastasis is a process of spreading cancer from one organ to another organ. When cancer is metastasis doctor termed it as cancer metastasized.


Metastasis cancer is also termed as metastatic cancer.

Development of metastasis

When cancer is break up from the starting cell and enter into blood stream and lymphatic system and spread into another organ of body is called metastatic cancer.

The common types of metastasis are found to happen in bone, lung, lymph node. Metastasis can also happen in the pleural space of body. For example of such types of metastasis is in lining cell in lung and abdominal cavity. Such types of metastasis creates excessive fluid in this area. That is called mallignant pleural effussion or mallignant ascites.

Very common form of metastasis is found

Breast cancer to spreading into lung, bone, chest

Lung cancer tend to spread over brain, liver

Prostate cancer tend to spread over bone

Colon cancer and rectal cancer metastaze to liver and lung.

The breast cancer that spread to liver is not termed as liver cancer. But it is termed as metastatic breast cancer.
